Whether you're a racialized artist, designer, filmmaker, poet, musician, cultural worker, DJ, photographer, writer, stylist, performer, producer, a hybrid of the above, or still finding your lane, this one's for you! ✨
Inspired by Skill 4 Skill, "Work In Process" is the perfect place to get you out of that creative rut, writer's block, or motivation dry spell. Bring your unfinished ideas, insights to share, and desire to learn from and with your fellow creatives.
"Work In Process" is a space where each attendee brings and leaves with something valuable, whether that's a new idea, skill, or connection.
What's on the menu?
5:30 PM | Doors open
6:00 PM | Screening: Showcasing video works by participants of the Frugal Filmmaking workshop
6:20 PM | Collab4Collab: Have photography skills but need help with copywriting on a project? Know your way around a CDJ but want to learn video editing? Need a second (or fifth) pair of eyes on your screenplay? This is your chance to present your idea / concept / project / skills and find your next collaborator, mentor, or muse.
7:00 PM | Chitchat: Join us in The Loop workshop room for food, fine tunes, and friendly conversations with your fellow creatives.
9:00 PM | Goodbyes 🥲

How much does this cost?
Work In Process is a Pay-What-You-Can (PWYC) event, and no one will be turned away due to lack of funds. The registration form will allow you to name your price, whether that's 0$ (free ticket), $5, $15, $50, or $500+ 👀 Funds will go towards the cost of food, refreshments, screening fees, and future programming.
How do I get there?
The Digital Arts Resource Centre's (DARC) Microcinema is located on the first floor of the Arts Court building. The address is 67 Nicholas St, Ottawa ON K1N 7B9 Canada.

Accessibility Information
This event will take place in the Arts Court building, which has an accessible ramp, accessible and all-gender washrooms, automated doors, and an elevator. Arts Court also offers transport chairs and walkers free of charge by reservation. Visit the Arts Court's Visitor Info page to learn more.
Here are the specifications for the chairs in the Microcinema: 1¼” foam padded seats with 3/4″ backrest, 16 x 16″ fabric padded cushion, 18” high, 300lb capacity.
Community Guidelines / Safe(r) Spaces Policy
This space welcomes people across races, gender expressions, orientations, abilities, and lived experiences. We are committed to respecting people’s boundaries, pronouns, and consent. As such, there is a zero tolerance policy for bigotry, harassment, or violence.
Will photos and videos be taken at the event?
Yes, please note that photos and videos of the event and participants will be taken at the event, and shared online afterwards. That said, if there are any photos and videos of you that you would like to have removed, please get in touch.
Will there be alcohol served?
"Work-In-Process" is a dry event, and alcohol can't be brought into the event space. That said, if you are looking to get a drink, the OAG's Jackson at Night is open until 9:00 PM and is located downstairs (in the same building as the event).
Will there be tickets at the door?
To secure your spot at the event and register to present at Collab4Collab, make sure to get your tickets ahead of time and arrive before 6:00 PM. If the event is sold out, you can sign up to the waitlist to be notified of any cancellations. If space permits, you are welcome to register at the door and join the event at 6:00 PM.
Refund Policy: What if I can't make it anymore?
I get it: life happens! If you find yourself unable to attend, please get in touch so that we can find a solution. You are also welcome to offer your ticket to someone you know.

Hi, I'm Candide! 👋🏿 I'm a Congolese-Canadian creative technologist who dabbles in video editing, photography, web design + development, workshop facilitation, and event planning. I’m passionate about empowering creatives like you to tell their own stories. candide ꘎ media is the community I'm creating to learn about independent and accessible content creation using free and open source software.
This is my first time hosting "Work In Process", and I created it to celebrate the work of the Frugal Filmmaking workshop participants, and to provide an opportunity to the local creative community to find collaborators for future projects.
